SoftCAT Review - A review of this free tool that helps users organize their software downloads on Windows based computers. Features: SoftCAT is an organized software inventory tool designed to assist you manage your software inventory from a central location. More than thirty data fields can be recorded for each software on your computer which can then be organized into an easily accessible user interface.
You can set up as many as 18 custom fields for each software application and store more than nine screenshots for each one in your computer's database. Each entry can have a description which will appear when the mouse pointer hovers over it. The main view of the software organizer database also has a 'Show All Items' drop down menu where you can select all software applications. When you choose an application you can click on the appropriate 'Manage' drop down menu to upload the software files for that particular software application to SoftCAT.
In the earlier version of SoftCat, this feature was known as the Fncreator Locator and allows the user to browse by category, sub category and so on. In version 8, the 'auto-complete' option is available in which when you click on the item, the program will automatically complete the download for you. The user interface is relatively simple and you will learn how to use the various tools offered by the software to create and organize your downloads. As the program gets used to the various file structures of different software applications, it will be easier to navigate through files and set up multiple download links for easy access. With an ever expanding and more intuitive interface, the user will surely be able to stay ahead of the downloading game.
